¡¡¡¡A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE INDUSTRY OF HUZHOU
¡¡ 2003 witnesses the rapid increase of industry in Huzhou. Of the total 33 industrial sub-lines taken into analysis , there are 32 that have increased their total sale revenues. Among these 32, there are 17 sub-lines whose increasing rate reaches more than 30%. Take textile industry for instance whose sales income covers 23.68% of the whole industry in 2002, the new income in 2003 is actually 1.6 billion US dollars , increasing by 31%,because of which the whole industry revenue statistics grows by 7.6%. The increase rate of 2003 is as follows:

¡¡The above eight lines account for 67.95% of the whole industry income realized in 2003, contributing greatly to the industry development of Huzhou.In brief, the development takes on two distinctive features.

¡¡o begin with, some key manufacturing enterprises take up most of the share of the revenues. Of the enterprises established in Huzhou, there are 11companies whose sales income and index of tax and profit reach 60 million US dollars and 12 million dollars respectively. Furthermore, we have four leading enterprise worthy of our attention. Shenghua Group touchs up to a new high of 241 million dollars in terms of sales volume. The next three companies Jinzhou Group, Jinzhou Group and Mizuda Group realize the sale volume of more than 120 million dollars in 2003. More than 42.72% of the industry output is realized by the 100 key enterprises, of which 86 enterprises reach more than 1.2 million dollars. Consequently their products renowned nation-wide and their brands are warmly received in the markets.

¡¡Secondly, there is an inclination that heavy industry is receiving more attention than before. In the industry framework, heavy industry is proclaiming to attract attention, although the textile industry take the lead. The tendency can be testified from the following. Since August 2003, the gross output of heavy industry has surpassed that of light industry for the first time. To be more exact, the output of heavy industry from Jan to August accounts for 50.12% of the whole, while the output of light industry reduce to 49.88%, which means the framework improves during the period of 2003.

¡¡Manufacturing plays a vital role upon the industry of Huzhou .In 2003,manufacturing-typed enterprises account for 91.91% of the entire sales income, achieving 6.7 billion US dollars with 0.7 billion of the index of tax and profit.
