¡¡Situated
in the Great Plains of Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou Belt which
is rich in natural resources, Huzhou enjoys very favorable
economic conditions, among which 80-odd percent of the cultivatable
land is high-yielding cropland free from the care over drought
and flood because of the advanced irrigation system and
natural geographic advantages. In a sense, it is natural
that Huzhou has been regarded as one of the most vital agricultural
bases that have been supplying multitudes of goods to the
other parts of the country, such as rice, silkworm cocoon,
fresh-water fish, bamboo products.Linghu District and Anji
County rank high all over the country in terms of fish and
bamboo products. Since the reform of agriculture framework,
Huzhou has encouraged the modulation of agricultural framework
in order to modernize the formerly low and inefficient technology.
The merits of this reform are strikingly apparent.2003 saw
the realization of 1 billion US dollars of agricultural
gross
output
value. The rate between the land for grains and the land
for cash crops adjusts to 51:49 with the yield increasing
to 45:55, on the contrary. At the same time to adjust the
structure of agriculture, some efforts have been taken to
further process the raw materials to achieve more additive
profits, helping to set up some processing bases for agricultural
and sideline products according to the demands of the market.
Nowadays Huzhou has been well-known for its processing and
producing aquatic products, bamboo shoots, delicious tea,
fruit and rapeseeds etc .
¡¡Industry has been playing an important role upon the economy
of Huzhou, with a variety of modern sub-sectors, such as
silk knitting, building materials, machinery manufacturing,
electronics, textile, chemistry, medicine, foodstuffs etc.
During the past years, municipal government strongly supports
the development of competitive industrial sectors such as
new textile fabrics, electro-mechanics, medicine and drugs,
refined chemical industry and new building materials to
develop more brand-new products. In 2003, the value added
of the entire industry yield comes to 2.8 billion US dollars
with the profit of 0.45 billion dollars, to which the above
mentioned industrial sub-sectors, contribute greatly. A
lot of enterprises stand out , while facing the competition
of the market.
¡¡
The
tertiary industry is no less important than other sectors
and is making great progress in recent years, especially
commodity circulation, transportation, communication ,insurance,
finance and tourism etc.The significance of the role that
the downtown center plays and the radiation of it is being
enhanced. In 2003, the value added of the tertiary industry
achieved 2 billion US dollars, with the exciting consequence
of a balanced and prosperous market, such as the selling
market of automobile and real estate as well as others.
The overall 191 commodity exchange markets accomplishes
the sales of 5 billion US dollars, among which there are
31 markets whose sales are more than a dozen million dollars,
covering the major share of the sales. In the meanwhile,
tourism becomes the mainstay of the tertiary industry that
the municipal government plans to support in all aspects,
with the visiting tourists of more than seven million and
0.5 billion dollars¡¯ achievement in 2003.The revenues of
the insurance accounts for 0.16 billion and the surplus
deposit of the financial institutions is 6 billion dollars.
At the same time the profits of other sectors are quite
satisfactory such as the transportation, tele-communication,
whose value added is about 0.5 billion dollars.
¡¡The
progress that the industry of Huzhou makes is rather striking,
touchiong the new high in 2003. The output of the major
enterprises comes up to over 7 billion dollars ie 28 percent
more
than
that of the previous year. Among the accomplishments, the
output of the light industry of is 3.6 billion US dollars
with the increase of 22%; the output of the heavy industry
is 3.5 billion with the increase of 36.7%.Of the 33 sub-sectors
of the industry, 29 increase their outputs more or less.
Also the increasing rate of 24 lines surpasses 20 percent,
and that of 15 lines goes beyond 30 per cent. The following
is the detailed increasing rates of the fundamental lines:
¡¡
Textile industry 16%
Nonmetal ore exploration 34.7%
Electrical equipment 31.7%
Electricity and Thermodynamic System 55.6%
¡¡The
significance of the increase is reflected not only in the
aspect of mere output but also in the aspects of profits.
In 2003 the profits and taxes achieved by the leading enterprises
is 0.5 billion U S dollars with the increase of 65.8%, which
is the highest one of the same line in Zhejiang province.
In China enterprises can be divided in the light of ownership.
The profits achieved by the stock companies whose investment
comes from abroad, Twain, Macao and Hongkong, and others
are 345 million dollars(87.2% increase), 46.4
million
dollars(41.5%) and 60 million dollars(8.5%). It is self-evident
that the profits from the stock companies account for the
largest share of those of the industry, ie 76.5%. In terms
of the sub-sectors, nonmetal-ore-exploration enterprises
achieved their profits of 81 million dollars with the increasing
rate of 193%, surpassing that of the textile industry. The
profit of the latter is about 75 million dollars with the
increasing rate of 44.1%
